I mean REALLY East

June 25 – Cool and thickest fog you’ve ever seen, 0km
Ok so technically not the start of the trip, this was the day Ruby, Tamara and I (Josie) explored the Avalon Peninsula and went out to Cape Spear, the most Eastern tip of North America (don’t ask about Greenland). It seems an appropriate place to start...gazing out over the North Atlantic, trying to burn it to memory so that some homesick day in the mountains I can make a mental return to the east coast. Of course Newfoundland is not home, but I could live there and be quite happy. It has a certain rugged beauty that can’t be emulated. St. Johns is a lovely town and it was great to visit Amy, Peter, Obi, Lindel, and Murphy (their new dog who is blind and slept in with Mom and I nearly every night). I even stuck my toe in Tor Bay. Stay tuned when many months from now I stick my toe in the Pacific...

You were brave enough to stick your toe in Tor Bay? Bet it was C-O-L-D!
